From November 15 to 17, 2024, the "2024 New Era University Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Teaching Reform and Innovation Exchange Conference" was held in Guangzhou. The event was organized by the Chemistry Teaching Steering Committee, Chemical Engineering Teaching Steering Committee, and University Chemistry Curriculum Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, as well as the Chemistry Education Research Center of Higher Education Institutions and Higher Education Press. The conference was hosted by the Secretariat of the "101 Plan" of Sun Yat-sen University's Chemistry Department. It attracted numerous educators from related disciplines across the country.

The conference focused on the theme "Discipline Development and Curriculum Reform in the Context of a Strong Education Nation". Experts exchanged experiences and achievements in various areas, including the implementation and progress of the "101 Plan" in chemistry, discipline construction, talent cultivation, theoretical curriculum and textbook development, innovative design and practice of experimental courses, and digital empowerment for curriculum reform and innovation in the new era.

The conference invited prominent experts such as Academician Gao Song from Sun Yat-sen University, Academician Zheng Lansun from Xiamen University, Professor Luo Yi from the University of Science and Technology of China, Professor Zhang Shuyong from Shandong University, and Professor Zhu Yaxian from Xiamen University. They delivered keynote speeches titled:"Implementation and Progress of the Chemistry '101 Plan'","Development and Application of Teaching Mass Spectrometers","Artificial Intelligence and the Robotic Chemist","Approaches to High-Level Experimental Curriculum and Practice Development", and"'101 Plan' Inorganic Chemistry Curriculum and Textbook Development".In his speech, Academician Zheng Lansun from Xiamen University's College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering shared the accomplishments and practical experiences achieved since the implementation of the "101 Plan." Zheng noted that the college has made significant progress in developing self-designed teaching instruments. Among these, the "Liquid Gate Pressure Threshold Meter" has been incorporated as a specialized instrument for chemical metrology experiments under the "101 Plan." This device helps students better understand the fundamental scientific questions related to the properties of liquid/solid interfacial measurements.
